Hi folks, here’s a list of the parks we hit tonight. In total we were able to get out 275 Concrete Moose and 25 were snapped up by others along the way. In order: Westfort Sports Field, Some little park near James St., Dilico Offices, Widnall Pool, Walkway near St. Pats, Franklin St. Park, Friendship Gardens, Patterson Park, Minnesota Park, Regional Hospital, Grassroots Church, River Terrace Park, Jumbo Gardens Sports Centre, Carrick Park, Poplar Park, Hillcrest Park, Bay St. Area, Waterfront, Tot Lots in Grandview, Junot Park, Volunteer Pool, County Park, Dick Waddington Park….and a few I’ve probably forgotten. We managed to miss the rain. Happy hunting! If you find a Concrete Moose, send us a note and tell us the story.

Dick Waddington would be so proud to know that a ‘herd’ of moose chose his park to rest for the night. I was thrilled to be able to bring one home with me! One of the herd was injured pretty badly, parts galore, so I have opted to see about repairing him, or at the very least restoring him to reasonable health so he can move on.
Thank you for initiating and continuing this amazing tradition. It is an honor to be providing a home for a concrete moose for a year.
We got up early for some moose hunting this morning! We went searching because I didn’t think of turning on the computer at 5:30am! No luck at our first stop, Hillcrest Park or Waverly park or Wilson Park. Tried St. Joes Heritage green space, but couldn’t find any there either. Success at our next stop Volunteer Pool! We thought we would look around more just for fun. No one at Balsam Pit, but a bunch of moose were at Junot Park. County Park looked empty as did North End Rec. We also found some moose hanging out at Marina Park with the geese! We headed home with a stop at Hillcrest Park for breakfast and found a couple of moose there that we must have missed the first time! We had tons of fun and will take good care of our moose til next year! Thanks!
What a great idea. It even got me up 20min earlier than normal this morning. I was out at 6:15 on the hunt after learning about it yesterday. I was texting back and forth with a friend who was out a bit before me and had scoped out some of the areas already. Met up with him at Waverly Park, where he said he found one…upon closer inspection, it was one from last year that someone put out and was in need of some repair. Looked like he had a good year, as he was found with a beer bottle standing beside him, and limbs taped on with duct tape! I left him for someone else, as he needed more TLC than I could give him. Headed up to Hillcrest, as I had a tip that there were some there. Encountered a workout group doing some intense training for this early in the morning, and eventually saw a few moose hanging around. Was nice to have a choice of colours, but I saw one of the elusive multi coloured ones, and had to grab it, just because of it’s pure rarity! Ran into a work colleague and explained the whole thing to him, unfortunately he was walking the dogs (or the dogs were walking him), and he didn’t have a spare hand.
Anyway – I had fun with all the hype leading up to this, and am glad to have found one. He’ll have a spot in our house (at least for the next year)!
Thanks for the fun!
I had a kettlbell class this morning at 5:45 am at Hillcrest Park. Due to the rain only 4 people showed up and were pleasantly surprised at from the moose we found.
Other people started showing up around 6 am asking if we had seen any moose and we directed them in the right direction.
Thanks for the generosity.
We love that some of the moose from the previous two years are starting to reappear in the parks. Thanks so much for the post! It’s encouraging to see that moose are circulating.

Heard about this on CBC this morning and it sounded like great fun, so I headed up to Hillcrest Park before work this morning and found one. Looks like he’s had a rough life of it already, since his legs are in three pieces. I’m going to see if I can find some concrete glue and piece him back together so he can stand again. I’m still fairly new to the city (a year and a half), so it’s fun to hear about such traditions and have the opportunity to take part. Thanks!
Thanks for taking care of the moose. Decorate, glue, paint, customize….that what these little guys are for. Welcome to the City, we’re glad you’re here and we hope you have been able to settle in with a good circle of friends.

I found a herd along Jameson St this morning and was so excited to take one home! I will spend the next year taking good care of my moose and thinking carefully about who to pass him along to.
What a great way to brighten up a dreary morning, thank you!
I had a wonderful surprise this morning. Left my home and tuned my radio to CBQ as I do every morning on my way to work. I caught the middle of a story the announcer was telling about some 250+ concrete moose that had been distributed across the city last night and how he and another colleague at the station had already claimed two of them. He then started listed areas in the city where the moose had been placed and could be found, one of which was on Junot. I realized I had just turned onto Junot, so took a quick glance to the side of the road, and there it was! Mr. Moose (he is grey and looks brand new) is now resting safely in my office, out of the rain and cold. I had no idea what these concrete moose were all about, as this was the first I had heard about them, but have since read up on them and will adhere to the “code of the concrete moose”, and look forward to spending some time with my Mr. Moose and planning for his departure to his new recipient in the coming year!
Heard about the moose on the loose on CBC radio this am. Wasn’t the first time I heard about them and once again I thought what a great idea. As it turned out, I spotted a maggle of moose on my way to work at 7 a.m. right before i turned into the hospital off Junot. I was on my bicycle at the time and turned around and stuffed one into my backpack. I was quite excited to get one and am thinking about how to decorate him already. I think I’ll add a “Path Tag” to my moose so that he can be tracked with a code #. Fabulous idea. I’ll be sure to follow the Code of Conduct. By the way, my moose was a little heavy for my backpack; don’t recommend cycling too far with one, lol.
We love the Path Tag idea. There are so many tools online that would make this project better…we just don’t know how to use them all. So, start it up and if you want send us a note at info@concretemoose.ca and we’ll teach others how to start Path Tags too!

We found the moose on our way to school. Our neighbour told us about them, & where they were, so we went & got one. We’re very excited. Decorating our moose is going to be a “family-time activity.” We will take very good care of him all year!
I made my way to Minnesota Park/Widnall Pool this morning. I was disappointed to find that the only moose there had been smashed into easily 25 pieces. I spent some time trying to rebuild him out in the rain but it looked like some pieces were missing. It’s a shame not everyone appreciates the beauty of the moose!
Melissa: We do have a few extra pieces so if you are missing some then we can try to find some in the Moose Bone Yard….or better yet….make a custom piece of your own. If you do need some help send us an email at info@concretemoose.ca…

I’m here in Thunder Bay for Training with Health Canada, the bonus is, I get to visit my son and my grandchildren after training hours. My son, Corey, discovered a moose in the Park on Hill Street. I use to live here a number of years ago and since then my son has made Thunder Bay his home. It was awesome to receive this gift from my son. What a fabulous idea…I’m excited to share this story with the rest of my family. I can’t wait to share “my moose” with family and friends! What a great conversation piece!
I went out moose hunting after work… thinking I would be too late to find one. At my first stop I found one in a million pieces on the ground
I was quite sad to see it there on the ground. I did keep looking at other places around town with no other luck. I guess I will have to try again next year.
Jade: There will be another few Maggles this summer….so there will be more opportunities….You can also try posting an ad for one on Kijiji….It has worked for a few people in the past.

We are sad to say that we found only 3 smashed moose although we searched until dark. We collected the pieces of 2 and just the tag of the other.
How inconspicuous are the placement of these Moose? I drove around to a few sites tonight and couldn’t spot any. Would they be visible from a car or are they “hidden” within the parks? How may are left at each park? I can’t imagine that they would all be gone when our day was full of rain today?!?
For the most part they are placed out in the open…but they are snapped up REALLY FAST. I did see one still out in the open around 4:00 PM today around Bay St….but it was gone shortly after. Even with the rain I am certain that they all went fast. But have no fear, a few more Maggles will be heading out into parks later this summer.

I think concrete moose hunting season is my new favourite time of year. They still elude me, but I am glad there may be more this summer.
Thank you!
My children and I went out at 8:00 yesturday morning and had a blast looking for the moose. Unfortunatly we found two smashed to pieces at Minnesota Park which made us angry because it would have been nice to see the moose go to a good family instead of resting in pieces on the ground. I know of many families that were not as lucky as I was to get a moose. My children plan to decorate them and pass them on to their cousins. Thank you so much for an exciting day, can’t wait till next year.
I got back from a short trip to discover this moose beside my gate! I figured my brother-in-law, who was dogsitting for me was playing a joke. I have since found out that a friend of mine scooped one up for me and placed it there. She knows my personal experience with moose, as I was almost killed by one when it landed on my vehicle a few years ago. It now sits prominently in my front garden beside the inookshook I uhhh, rehomed there, and an oriental lantern. I’m now thinking how I can decorate it, and send it forward next year.
I took the dog out for his morning pee on the front lawn and noticed the moose in the park across the street. Well, I was still sleepy so at first I thought they were seagulls hunting worms. I was excited when on closer inspection (and waking up), to find the park had been populated by a maggle of moose. I quickly snatched one up for our front lawn, where my dog immediately personalized it. So I’m afraid the only home it can go to next year is one with a male dog.
I am a foster parent and my kids and I were at a BBQ at the Dilico office on Mary street. after the BBQ we were running to the parking lot because it was raining, one of my kids spotted a moose sitting on an electrical box by the road.. i had heard of the moose before, a friend of mine found one last year, so i told them to grab it and read the card in the van, they were thrilled to have found a moose! He is currently living on our back deck
